New Ulm Banker's League team won the Polka Day tournament in 1960 and later most of the players represented the New Ulm VFW midget team at the district tournament at Mankato, playing St. Peter in the first game. Beat Sleepy Eye 4-0 in championship game with John Zimmermann pitching a two-hit shutout in the championship game. Picture shows team players including: Ron Muetzel, Ricky Kunz, Tim Silcox, bat boys Doug Schmitz and Jerry Pagel, Charles Raabe, Don Nolte, Tom Herbeck, Dick Breu, Jerry Brunner, Henry Frisch, Neil Gulden, Dick Cordes, Marty Vorwerk, Jim Kopetzki, Jerome Bleick, Ron Wieland, Dave Zahn and Johnb Zimmermann. Coach was Pete Wirtz. |
