MARSHALL - New Ulm High School's Eagles were denied a state tournament trip for the second straight season when the team lost a 2-1 eight-inning thriller to Luverne here Thursday.

MANKATO - New Ulm Cathedral won its way back to the state high school baseball tournament for Class A teams here Thursday, June 4.

Ali Bernard, New Ulm's Olympic bronze medal winner, has advanced to the No. 1 rank in the 72kg weight class for the United States 2009 Senior World Wrestling Tournament.

HANSKA - Trailing 2-1, the Hanska Bullheads rallied for three runs in the last of the sixth to beat Edina Braemer Bees 4-2 for their second win.

VESELI - Trailing 7-6, Hanska Bullheads scored six seventh inning runs to beat the Veseli Vulcans 12-7 Friday in the River Valley conference opener for both.

HANSKA - Close games featured the Second Annual Pre-Season tournament for the Minnesota Senior Men’s Amateur Baseball Association Saturday, May 24, at Hanlin Field, Hanska.

Twenty years ago these four men were featured at the 60th anniversary of Johnson Park (July 1989) as the high school baseball coaches who had won the most games at the time.
